Introduction
The Department of Human Development & Family Studies, formerly the Department of Home Economics Education, was founded in 1953 with the objective of training secondary school teachers. The Master’s and Doctoral Programs were established in 1982 and 1996 respectively. The Undergraduate Program encompasses three major fields-- Home Economics & Family Life Education, Early Childhood Development & Education, and Nutritional Science & Restaurant Management. The Master’s Degree Program and Doctoral Program both encompasses four major fields-- Family Life Education, Early Childhood Development & Education, Nutritional Science & Education, and Hospitality Management & Education.
